One of the crucial members of the Aam Aadmi Party, Mayank Gandhi who is also part of the party's National Executive has now spoken out. In a blog published on Friday morning, he has confirmed that Arvind Kejriwal wanted dissidents Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan out of the party's Political Affairs Committee.

Gandhi on his blog said that he was warned he may face consequences if he spoke out, but that he was breaking silence for the sake of all the AAP volunteers. Gandhi has revealed some information about the meeting which largely pertained to the removal of Bhushan and Yadav. In a way, he has put pressure on the AAP leadership to release the minutes of the meeting for greater clarity.

Alluding that the acrimony between the three top leaders had been going on for a long time, Mayank Gandhi writes, "There were operational irreconcilable differences and a trust deficit between AK, PB and YY". He also reveals a crucial information that Bhushan threatened to go public against the party's choice of candidates in the Delhi Election and this was resisted by other leaders. According to reports, Bhushan had a problem with 12 candidates, out of which two were changed eventually.

Describing the meeting, Gandhi says that Yogendra Yadav suggested a sort of a face-saving formula which would respect Kejriwal's wishes, but also give them a way out. According to Gandhi, Yadav suggested two formulas. One was that of the PAC being re-constituted, with no nomination from either of the two dissidents. Another one was of keeping the existing set-up with the two leaders abstaining from subsequent PAC meetings.

Gandhi writes that none of the two proposals were accepted and Manish Sisodia moved a resolution which directly called for removal of the two dissidents from the PAC. Gandhi says that Sisodia took the decision after consulting with the 'Delhi Team', a sort of oblique reference to those apparently calling the shots within the party. Mayank Gandhi says he decided not to vote as he was stunned by the public nature of the sacking, which according to him, was against the overwhelming sentiments of the party workers.

With this blog, Gandhi has become the latest leader to publicly raise his voice against the workings of the Aam Aadmi Party. Will the nascent party survive this massive internal churn is anyone's guess.
