Actor Hugh Grant has said that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr 'hated' him when they first met.

The two stars collaborated for the 1995 drama Restoration, which also starred Sam Neill, David Thewlis, and Meg Ryan.

"He hated me. He took one look at me and wanted to kill me," Grant told People magazine.

Before starting the word association game, Grant had already announced that he has gotten in trouble before for playing this.

Grant said that he doesn't know why would RDJ hate him. But he added that he was so hurt at the time.

Responding to this interview, Sherlock Holmes star Robert Downey Jr tweeted, "A lot has happened over two decades! I respect how Mr. Grant has matured as an artist & voice against violations of privacy. Let’s break bread together soon @HackedOffHugh! #burythehatchet2018"

The invitation was accepted and reciprocated by Paddington 2 star. "Thanks, @RobertDowneyJr .Nice way to kick off the year. And yes- if you’re in London come by and break bread. Won’t be easy as my 5-year-old bakes it, but you seem strong. Respect. #burythehatchet2018," Grant tweeted.

Grant also talked about his other co-actors over the years. He said that Emma Thompson is a 'genius' but far too insane! "She is not remotely sane. She's nuttier and nuttier as the years go," Grant said.

He also revealed that Meryl Streep, his co-star in Florence Foster Jenkins, can't tell if it's Grant or Denzel Washington standing in front of her when she doesn't have her glasses on.

“She doesn’t see very well, but she refuses to wear contact lenses. The result is, if we’re doing a scene, I could have been Denzel Washington."

"Renee loves me and I love Renee. Well, I mean she’s in the same category as Emma Thompson, in terms of lunacy, but an amazing actress of course, and very generous,” he said about his Bridget Jones co-star. "She once sent me a fabulous huge volume of beautiful photography, including a lot of semi-undressed women. I remember it because I had just landed in Marrakesh … and the book was impounded."
