Will Aamir Khan's 'PK' bring a tsunami at the box office like 'Dhoom 3'?

Dhoom 3 relaesed on December 20 last year, while PK is releasing on 19th December. Before Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan used to release all his films on Christmas, but now he has started releasing his films a week prior.

Aamir’s release marks the festive season and he has been bringing in Christmas earlier by a week so that the festivities can go on longer. Families can bring in the festive season together with his film. Aamir’s films have always been family films. They can be watched by the entire family together, from a small child to the grandparents.

There is a lot of secrecy around the plot of PK and anticipation for the film. Hence, the buzz around the film is strong. The film, like Dhoom 3 is expected to have a bumper opening at the box office too. 

Given the fact that last year, Dhoom 3 went on to become the biggest Bollywood film ever, PK too has high chances of bringing in a box office tsunami. And now that it is releasing around the same time as Dhoom 3, is it rather a planned move? Coincidence, much?
