Prabhas and Rana Daggubati's Baahubali 2 has been a phenomenal hit at the box office. Coupled with amazing VFX and a fantastic storyline, the release of the sequel had fans flocking to theatres in large numbers to have the answer to their question 'Why Kattappa killed Baahubali'.

Post its release, the film has broken a number of existing records and is constantly creating new ones with every passing day. The shocking factor is its outstanding performance at Bollywood box office, being a South Indian dubbed film.

The film has beaten the records of Salman Khan’s Sultan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Aamir Khan’s Dangal in term s of occupancy. Salman Khan’s Sultan held this record with occupancy of 80-90 percent last year. Aamir’s Dangal and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees were second with occupancies of 70 percent on day one. But with 95 percent occupancy Baahubali has created history.

However, there is one record that it couldn’t beat and that belongs to Shah Rukh Khan and his 2014 hit, Happy New Year. With this, Shah Rukh continues to remain the King Khan of Bollywood.
The opening day collection of Happy New Year was Rs 42.62 crore and Baahubali 2 (Hindi) was Rs 41 crore. Hence Baahubali 2 couldn’t get past the star power of Shah Rukh Khan.
