But Dabboo Ratnani’s bold calendar girl insists she isn’t. You decide!
Disha Patani has just done a smoking hot shoot with photographer Dabboo Ratnani for his annual calendar.
Ask her about the almost-bare shoot and she says, “I was not topless, you don’t see anything, you only see my back. It was Dabboo’s concept and I just followed references he showed me. This is my first time in the calendar, we wanted it to stand out.”
According to Disha, the shoot got over in barely an hour. “My only input was in terms of the make-up, I wanted smokey eyes and blow-dried hair,” adds the actress who admits being a simple dresser in real life and doesn’t like wearing make-up when she steps out. “I don’t think make-up is good for skin. We should let it breathe,” she cautions.
Did she harbour any inhibition about the bold shoot? “I don’t know what a ‘bold shoot’ is. I am comfortable with my body so there’s never been scope of any inhibitions.”
Did she work out extra hard to look more toned for the shoot? “I didn’t get a chance to workout, I was travelling and came back and got a call to come for the shoot. I didn’t have enough time. For me fitness is a lifestyle.”
Dabboo shares his experience of shooting with her. “Disha is very photogenic. Every year, I feature one debutant. I’m glad I chose her for this year. I’d worked with before, for a brand calendar shoot. I saw great potential and spark in her. And I wanted to do a shoot with her again someday. What better then shooting her for my own calendar?”

Jennifer Aniston’s iconic GQ picture seems to be the inspiration for the Disha shoot. Jen is natural (nude makeup, not pose-y) casual (no accessories) and has a homely (on a ruffled bed and smiley) feel to it. The mood suggests that it could have been shot by a lover at his/her home. Jen seems more at ease, while Disha’s look has a studio vibe. Jen’s denim shorts were traded in for barely-there itsy-bitsy underpants. And boots were introduced.
