The cult American action franchise, The Expendables, conceived by Sylvester Stallone who even directed the first in the three-film series, is all set for a Hindi version. It will kick-start early next year and will be shot across India, Bulgaria and parts of Russia.

Nilesh Sahay, who is co-producing the film with the original makers Avi and Yariv Lerner, and directing it too, admits that the duo were not sure about making a foray into Indian territory, but smitten by his concept which is set in a hyper real world in the near future.

“I'm excited to be working with Nilesh and look forward to helping him bring his epic vision of The Expendables to life, making it a landmark across all industries,“ says Yariv.

Nilesh who is known for  working with the finest stunt teams in the world shooting in India, promises a surreal, high-voltage extravaganza. “We haven't thought about dubbing it yet so at the moment it's only in Hindi with Indian actors and one big surprise,“ he shared.

One's keen to ask Is the surprise a Sly cameo? “It could be one, two or five of them,“ he says, perhaps referring to Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes and Jet Li, some of the big names associated with the franchise.

Nilesh who's into action, 24x7, since he is also co-writing a book with Shobha Nihalani on 100 years of action which covers all six major film industries in India--Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Punjabi, and will list the 10 best films in every one of them, while simultaneously planning the biggest action festival in India scheduled for 2017, singles out a scene from Part 2 of a plane crashing into a cave.

“But we won't be recreating any of the earlier sequences, it's all original. And the world is going to sit up when they see the kind of action coming out of India. I have the best stunt teams and cinematographers working with me, my own visual effects company and wonderful talent,“ he says.

However, he doesn't want to spell out too many details at this stage. “All I can say is belt up, the apocalypse is coming!“ he sings off!
