It’s been a while since Kannada films have had glorious releases of their dubbed versions outside Karnataka. But, the astounding success of two films — Jackie and Super — has changed all that.
Super, which recently saw an audio release function in Hyderabad, will see its dubbed Telugu version release on March 2 in Andhra Pradesh. A huge audio launch, held recently, ensured that the music is already a hit. “We’re hoping to recreate a similar success in Andhra. People there are quite crazy about Upendra’s films anyway and we want to cash in on that,” says film-maker Rockline Venkatesh.
Jackie too is following suit. Producer-distributor NS Rajkumar is releasing the dubbed film by April in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. “First, we’re releasing the audio in Hyderabad on February 26 where Allu Arjun will be the chief guest. We’re releasing the film shortly after that. We’re also having the film’s Malayalam version hitting the screens, especially since our heroine, Bhavana, is from Kerala,” says Rajkumar, who is quite positive about the film’s success in other states.
