John is a married guy!
'Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed 2014! May this year bring you love, good fortune and joy. Love, John and Priya Abraham' – that's how John signed off his New Year message on his Twitter account thereby declaring that he had tied the knot. The wedding took place in the US and John didn't even host a reception for his buddies in B-Town. Fans and the industry folks were equally flummoxed.

Alia Bhatt shines in Highway
This Patakha Guddi proved her detractors wrong by giving a mind-blowing performance in Highway that released on February 21. While she proved that she had the glam factor with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year, it was with Highway that everyone in the industry woke up to the fact that Alia has the acting prowess to give any of her contemporaries a run for their money. Not just the month, they year belonged to Alia, whose next two releases – 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania — proved to be money spinners at the box office and were liked by the critics too.

Anushka Sharma's lips
Usually, it's the actor who makes headlines, but Anushka's lips stole her limelight. The actress' appearance on Koffee With Karan shocked everyone. Many memes did the rounds and her lips were compared to those of the Joker from the Batman series. Anushka refused to accept the fact that she had opted for cosmetic surgery. Instead, she gave various reasons like the use of a unique make-up technique, use of a temporary lip-enhancing tool, and attributed it to her look in Bombay Velvet. Nobody bought it.

Kangana rocks the box office
Kangana smashed it out of the park with Queen. Not much was expected from the movie that released on March 7. However, word-of-mouth publicity ensured that the movie enjoyed a long run in the theatres. Kangana, who played Rani, was loved by the audience as well as the critics. Though she had a massive hit with Krrish in 2013, it was Queen that gave her more muscle power in Bollywood.

Sonam in trouble...again
Looks do matter, at least for Sonam they matter a lot. The actress during her appearance on Koffee With Karan said, "If you're not good looking, they think you are a good actor. Just because you look ordinary and you talk loud doesn't mean you're a good actor." While many people in the industry took offence to her statement, Kangana reacted strongly saying, "Sonam has said that people who act well are ugly, I have heard. So do I get the crown of the ugliest person? Because after watching Queen, people have been telling me that I act really well. So according to Sonam, I am the ugliest actor in Bollywood today. And well, I accept that with all the gratitude and humbleness."

Rani-Aditya tie the knot
This was supposed to be a big, Bollywood, Yash Chopra style wedding, but it turned out to be one hush-hush affair. An official statement said, 'We are happy to announce that Mr Aditya Chopra and Ms Rani Mukerji got married last night on April 21 in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends." The couple had been dating for a few years, but never spoke about their relationship. Keeping the post-wedding celebrations equally private, the couple held just a few dinners at their residence for their friends from B-Town.

Tiger Shroff makes his debut
Even before Tiger's debut movie Heropanti released on the May 23, the actor became an internet sensation because of all the jokes and memes were doing the rounds. Tiger took it in the right spirit, laughed of the jokes and waited for his big day. Heropanti did great business at the box office and also got him some plum offers in B-Town.

Preity files case against Ness
Preity Zinta registered a case of molestation against former boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia in Mumbai. In her statement to the police, Zinta said the incident happened during the IPL qualifier for the final between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on May 30. She stated that during the match, while in the Garware Pavilion, Wadia came up to her, grabbed her by the hand and started using abusive words in front of other spectators. Zinta and Wadia are co-owners of the IPL team Kings XI Punjab.

Paps ban Shraddha Kapoor
Unlike co-star Siddharth Malhotra, Shraddha kept turning her face away from the photographers during the promotions of Ek Villian. That led to a ban from the paps. The trouble began when Shraddha refused to look up on her way out of the airport and then kept lensmen hanging around on the sets of a reality TV show. The photogs were told that she'd pose later, which would have them hanging around on the sets for a few hours. They refused to click her at various events. Realising her mistake, she met the photogs and apologised for her behaviour before the issue got out of hand.

Bipasha Basu disowns Humshakals
Bipasha was missing from all the promotional events of Humshakals, which lead to a lot of speculation. In an interview the actress said, "I had no clue what I was doing in the film. I was doing a film without a script and role. Even though I knew such comedies are driven by the male characters, I still took it on hoping there would be some substance to my role. "I was miserable just standing around in every frame trying to figure out what I am supposed to do. I was always there on sets, doing nothing." Producer Vashu Bhagnani was pretty pissed off with her comments.

Salman boycotted by photogs
Photographers got upset when during a promotional event for Kick on July 11, they were roughed up by the actor's bodyguards and security personnel. Adding to the toruble, Salman said, "Those who want to cover the event are welcome to stay, the rest can leave if they wish" The photographers decided to ban the actor. The actor in response tweeted that he would have immense respect for them if they keep this stand. With neither willing to back off, the ban went on till Arpita Khan's wedding. Salman sent the photographer's association an inivite for the wedding, the association in return called off the ban as a goodwill gesture.

Saif Ali Khan disowns Humshakals
Saif disowned his disastrous movie Humshakals that was panned by the critics as well the audience. In an interview, the actor said that the film didn't have a script as such, it was all there in Sajid Khan's mind. He did whatever Sajid asked him to. The actor himself felt that the movie was very regressive.. In the interview, he said, "In fact, while watching it, I asked myself what I was doing in it. I knew I had let my fans down and underestimated their intelligence. I've been introspecting a lot and will never repeat a mistake that was Humshakals." The actor got a lot of flak for his stand.

Alia Bhatt's Genius Of The Year
If having three successful movies in her kitty wasn't enough, Alia even turned the brickbats flung at her into something that worked wonders for her. Her faux pas of calling Prithviraj Chavan the President of India resulted in many memes and jokes. The actress' IQ was the subject of ridicule for a long time. She then green-lit a video that showed her going through a mental makeover. The video went on to become viral sensation and currently has over 70 lakh views!

PK nude poster released
Within minutes of Aamir Khan releasing the poster that had him nude with a strategically placed vintage boombox for PK, it became a twitter sensation. Bans were seeked across the country as many groups found the poster offensive. B-Towners, however, all praise for Aamir's ability to pull it of. The apex court dismissed a plea filed against Aamir Khan and director of film PK for allegedly showing nudity in the movie.

Shweta arrested for prostitution
Shweta Basu Prasad was arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday for being involved in a high-profile prostitution racket by the cops. Reports said the 23-year-old actor was caught "in a compromising position" after the Hyderabad Police raided a famous hotel at the upscale Banjara Hills in the city. The actress was sent to a rescue home before she was allowed to go home. She found a lot of support from within the industry, especially her on-screen mother Sakshi Tanwar. Later, the court gave her a clean chit to leave from a sessions court in Hyderabad.

Deepika Padukone takes on daily
'YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!?? Don't talk about Woman's Empowerment when YOU don't know how to RESPECT Women!' thundered Deepika over Twitter when a leading daily chose to focus on her cleavage. Her fans, friends from the industry and other actresses supported he wholeheartedly. Deepika took a stand and stuck to it, as did her fraternity.

Ranveer goes Bang Bang
To promote his action thriller Bang Bang, Hrithik Roshan challenged many of his colleague with various dares. And while many completed the dares, Ranveer stole the show. Hrithik dared the actor to pose on a busy street. Ranveer had other plans. He donned the Krrish outfit and grooved to Hrithik's Main Aisa Kyun Hoon track from Lakshya on a busy intersection of Linking Road. The video went viral and has over 37 lakh hits at last count.

Hrithik and Sussanne divorced!
In December, 2014, Hrithik and Sussanne announced their marriage was over and on November 1, 2014 the two were granted divorce by a family court. Before the divorce, there was much speculation about the alimony that Sussanne would get. However, the two didn't reveal any of those details. Lawyer Mrinalini Deshmukh confirmed that the divorce was through mutual consent. "The divorce is done. The matter is over. Everything was decided between the two parties in a fair and amicable manner. That is it," she said.

SRK at Salman's sister's wedding
While SRK and Salman had already shared two jhappis at the iftaar dinner orgainsed by Baba Siddique for two consecutive years. But a proper patch-up was yet to bhappend. That happened during the wedding celebration held before Salman's sister Arpita's wedding. A picture of the two warring Khans kissing the bride-to-be went viral. And though King Khan wasn't present at the wedding ceremony at Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad, he joined the family for the reception held in Mumbai. The two Khans did not only meet and greet, but even danced together.

Salman Khan leaves Bigg Boss
Salman Khan, who has been hosting the reality show Bigg Boss for the past several seasons, confirms that he won't be able to anchor the last four episodes of the eighth season of the show's Weekend Ka Vaar. The actor had to back out due to prior commitments. He will be shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan and so Farah Khan may step into his shoes. In an interview the actor said, "From January (2015), I'll get busy with Bajrangi Bhaijaan. I'm shooting for that film in Rajasthan and up and down from there would be difficult for me. So, I won't be able to do the last four episodes."
