The trend of South Indian films heading overseas to shoot is not new, but there is still an effort to explore fresh destinations. Japan seems to be the latest Asian destination that Sandalwood has discovered. According to a leading daily, Kiccha Sudeep's film, which has been titled Kotigobba2 for now, might head to Japan for shooting. The movie stars Nithya Menen and Sudeep and is being directed by KS Ravikumar.

Soorappa Babu, the producer of this movie, has stated that they are looking at Japan as a destination to shoot the two remaining songs for the film. He has told the daily that audiences nowadays want to see new locations on screen and places like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Switzerland are passe. Babu adds that Japan is one of the countries that has not been explored too much by Indian filmmakers and hence it would be ideal. It looks like the team is working on the logistics as of now and figuring out details. If things go as planned, then this will be the first Kannada movie to be shot in Japan.

As of now, the movie has been wrapped up and only two songs remain to be shot. The movie is also going to be released in Tamil.
