Kangana Ranaut to play Meena Kumari on screen?

Kangana Ranaut has often been compared to tragedy queen Meena Kumari and looks like the same has earned her a role in Tigmanshu Dhulia's next! That's right folks, if the latest reports are to be believed, Tigmanshu's next is an adaptation of Vinod Mehta's book, Meena Kumari: The Classic Biography. We hear that the makers of the film possess the rights of the book and have approached Kangana with the project. 

A source revealed,” Kangana is looking at her date diary and is hoping to accommodate the film in August-September. The research has begun and a formal announcement will be made soon.” Kangana is currently caught up with the shoot of Katti Batti which is being directed by Nikhil Advani.

For the uninitiated, Meena Kumari was a well known name in the 50s and 60s and was popular for her roles in films like Pakeezah and Chitralekha. The actress died at the young age of 39 due to her alcohol addiction.
