Russell Crowe has already played Jor-El, Kal-El aka Superman's father in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. But if one is to take a look at the recent tweets of the star, he seems to be keen on playing Cable in Deadpool 2.

When at the end of Deadpool, Wade trying to borrow from Ferris Bueller's notebook, announced that the time-travelling mutant will be part of the sequel, the character became the hot ticket everyone wanted a piece of.

So when creator of Deadpool, Rob Liefeld, tweeted at Russell Crowe to read for Cable in Deadpool and X-Force, Crowe promptly responded 'I should read for it?'

Russell also got Ryan Reynolds involved by tweeting at him.

Reynolds being Twitter savvy surely must have has seen it. But the Canadian actor didn't engage.

Three days after this conversation, Crowe initiated another twitter back-and-forth with Liefeld. This time, he tweeted a fanart of him as Cable.

Liefeld's reply was full of enthusiasm.

There is still no word from Reynolds though.

According to media reports, production for Deadpool sequel will start in June. It is also being speculated that because Fox studio added 3 minutes to the original run time of Logan, it is possible that Deapool will make an appearance in the end credits to break the fourth wall and make a few announcements about the casting of Deadpool 2.

There is still time to finalise the cast of the movie. Kerry Washington is already testing to play Domino. Reynolds will obviously return to play the title character. Apart from Crowe, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, and like Wade himself suggested, Dolph Lundgren would be perfect to play the mutant set to debut on silver screen.

Only time will tell who gets the part.
