Actor Jamie Dornan says picks roles that challenge him as an actor because he doesn't want to be typecast as Christian Grey forever.

The actor is best know for playing the male protagonist in the erotic thriller Fifty Shades of Grey, but in his new film, Anthropoid, the 34-year-old stars as top-ranking Nazi official.

The part is a huge departure from Grey, and Dornan says he wants to continue to explore different characters, reported Contactmusic.

"I think as an actor, you do just want to mix it up... You don't want to be typecast," Dornan said on Good Morning America.

Despite his reluctance to be seen as Grey for the rest of his career, Dornan, who just finished filming the second and third instalments in the Fifty Shades franchise, enjoyed working on the movies.

"We (filmed instalments) two and three back to back. It was the right way to do it. It was good for everyone, in terms of keeping up with the energy. It's a slog, making movies. There's way harder ways to make a living, don't get me wrong, but a lot of energy goes into them, and if you can do two at once, I think it makes sense for everyone. It's hard in a way for people to re-motivate themselves and get back into character."
