Forget critics, 'Singh is Bliing' becomes the biggest opener for Akshay Kumar!

Last time Akshay Kumar and Prabhu Dheva teamed up together, history was created. Their film Rowdy Rathore went on to become both Prabhu and Akshay's biggest blockbuster individually till date. A few years later, the two have teamed up again, this time for Singh is Bliing and history has been repeated. 

Singh is Bliing opened to average to negative reviews but the audience's reception paints a different picture altogether. Given that it released on October 2 which is a national holiday, families flocked to the theatres to catch the Akshay-Amy Jackson starrer. As a result of which, the film received huge moolah on its opening day itself. After an above average year with one hit, one average and one plus film, Akshay seems to be on the right track as SIB recorded a humongous Rs 20.67 crore on its opening day. 

With that, SIB has turned out to be Akshay's biggest bet till date. The previous opening day record for any Akki starrer stood with Brothers which opened to Rs 15.25 crore this year, followed by Akshay's last film with Prabhu which collected Rs 15.10 crore on its first day. This also is the biggest opening for any Prabhu Dheva film. Given that it is only expected to grow over the weekend, a hefty opening weekend is guaranteed.
