Actor Daniel Day-Lewis was reportedly so immersed in his role for upcoming movie Lincoln that he used to stay in character even when he wasn't shooting.

The 55-year-old plays the role of US president Abraham Lincoln in the movie. He did not get out of his costume even while doing some other work and was addressed as 'Mr. President' by Steven Spielberg, who is directing the movie.

"All during the picture I called him Mr. President," thesun.co.uk quoted Spielberg as saying.

Even the crew was told not to speak to Day-Lewis, so the latter's British accent is preserved.

The yet-to-be-released movie also stars Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and David Strathairn, among others.
