Become a priority, Neil Nitin Mukesh urges women

Education is the only weapon against all social evils. To educate children is to cultivate that intellect and thought process that will set them in the right direction as adults. While I advocate education irrespective of the gender, I feel that the issue of educating the girl child is what needs more attention.

It’s a shame that the most important component of our unit, the girl, gets neglected on all fronts and that’s the backward mentality which should be changed. I support the DNA I Can Women’s Marathon which aims to take a step in that direction. It’s inspiring to see women from all walks of life come together and run for this noble cause.

Take any profession and women are at the helm, be it politics or medicine or corporates, but why should it stay limited to a few cities alone. An initiative like this draws attention to these basic issues and awareness is the first step to working towards bringing about any change, so I do hope that women and their families come out in large numbers to support the cause of girl child. Here in fact, it works two ways.

The awareness is not only on the basis of a social issue, but about personal health and fitness too. Mothers often have a tendency of putting their own healths last on the priority list. There’s no point in talking about a country’s progress until the grassroot rung is not economically and socially moving up. Cheers to all women who will be participating in the marathon. So, gear up ladies and show ‘em some women power!
