Arjun Kapoor-Ileana D'Cruz bond over Punjabi food

Mubarakan directed by Anees Bazmi boasts of several firsts. It has Arjun Kapoor and his uncle Anil Kapoor sharing screen space for the first time. Also, Arjun who plays a double role has him turning into a sardar for one character, which is a first for him.

And he pairs for the first time with Ileana D’Cruz. The two actors recently shot together in Chandigarh and have since formed a mutual admiration club.

Says Arjun, “I had met her when I saw Barfi and I was blown away by her performance. I jokingly mentioned that we’ll end up working together, little did I know that it will happen and I am glad we have come together for a fun film. While shooting with her, I discovered how easy going and chilled out she is. Though she has a lot of experience as an actor, having done films in the south and in Hindi, she still isn’t caught up in the web of running the rat race. I joked with her about being the first Goan to play a Punjabi, primarily because she is always worried about her Hindi, but she manages so well in front of the camera, that nobody can figure that out.”

As for Ileana, she finds Arjun super cool to work with. “This film requires us to look like we’ve known each other for a while. And we hit it off right from the beginning. I blame it on the mutual love for Punjabi food!”
