A 53-year-old owner of a boutique and her domestic help were stabbed to death allegedly by her tailor along with two accomplices over monetary issues and personal enmity, at her residence in South West Delhi's Vasant Kunj enclave area on Wednesday night. Police said that accused ransacked and looted the house but after two hours they themselves reached the police station and surrendered before the police. Police are verifying the facts.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Maya Lakhani who owned a boutique in south Delhi's Green Park and her 50-year-old servant Bahadur who was murdered as he spotted the accused identified as Rahul Anwar, Lakhani's tailor, and his accompanies Mohammad Rehmat and Wasim.

Police said that the incident took place at around 10 pm on Wednesday, when the three accused entered the house and went to the workshop where they worked. Later, Rahul called Lakhani on the pretext of showing her an outfit. While Lakhani was walking down, the three got hold of her and Rahul stabbed her several times in her abdomen, chest, throat and back, said a senior police officer.

The three then took her body and placed it in the washroom and cleaned the blood on the floor with the help of clothes in the workshop.

"As they were about to leave, they heard Bahadur calling out for Lakhani and reached the workshop looking for her. As Bahadur reached near the bathroom, the three men pulled him inside and stabbed him to death before cutting his throat. The three then washed the blood stains and bodies," said a senior police officer.

Later the three went to Lakhani's room and ransacked it and took away the valuables and some jewellery. They then drove away with Lakhani's car to Rangpuri Pahadi, where they live.

"The accused threw the used knives in the jungle area near Rangpuri. They dumped the valuables at the house and had a discussion following which they drove straight to the Vasant Kunj south police station and confessed to the murder," said a senior police officer.

A team was rushed to the house where the bodies of the two were recovered lying in a pool of blood.

"During interrogation, Rahul revealed that he had been working for Lakhani for past three years, however from the last 3-4 months she had been treating him badly. While she had not paid him his salary on regular basis and even insulted him in front of other workers. In order to take revenge, he roped in Rehmat and Wasim, luring them into robbing Lakhani's house after killing her," said Devender Arya,Deputy commissioner of police (southwest).

He further said that the accused's allegations are being verified while the bodies have been sent for post mortem at Safdarjung hospital.

"During questioning it appeared that the accused surrendered because they feared police action. Anwar, Lakhani's tailor who often frequented her house. Mohammad Rehmat, a painter by profession and Wasim, a professional tailor whom Anwar occasionally called to Lakhani's house A82 in Vasant Kunj Enclave, to work for her were present during the murder," said Arya.
