Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday said that time has come to find solutions for issues like terrorism and global warming through education and that all the ministers should put their heads together for the purpose.

Speaking at Vigyan Bhavan during the 65th meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), the highest decision making body on all matters related to education, Sisodia said,"All the education ministers should assure the country that they will give the kind of education to the kids that ensure that no educated individual under any circumstances will choose terrorism or violence."The meeting was attended by the education ministers of 22 states.

He further added that until now we have been using education as a tool to reduce poverty or provide employment, but we have never used it to solve problems like terrorism."Our schools and colleges are already producing good doctors, engineers, lawyers, journalists and managers. Now, all education ministers should plan to set up a framework that will educate students to shun pollution, corruption and the path of violence," Sisodia said.

Lauding the Centre for focusing on 'learning outcomes' across the country, Sisodia urged the NCERT, the CBSE and all state governments to promptly reduce the syllabus in all subjects by 50 per cent."If learning outcomes are to be focused, then the syllabus should also be halved and question papers should see a transformation," he said.

He also highlighted the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the field of education in the Capital."We have started setting up world-class infrastructure in our government schools and now our focus is on world-class teacher training. Our teachers are receiving training from Cambridge, Harvard, Finland, Singapore and IIMs," the education minister informed.

Sisodia further urged the HRD ministry to organise meetings of all state education ministers at least every two months in different states."It will help all state education ministers and officials to take inspiration from the best practices of each other," he said.
