Father, 2 sons thrashed by cops, Station House Officer, 6 constables taken off duty

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Rani Bagh police station along with six other policemen were taken off duty after a man alleged that he and his 2 sons were thrashed inside the police station. The man alleged that they were beaten after they refused to pay the cops a price for letting off their two-wheeler.

According to Surender Aggarwal, their scooty was parked just outside their home in Saraswati Vihar area when the police officials took it away.

Aggarwal stated that his youngest son (17) went to the police station but the cops instead asked him to pay Rs 200 if he wanted the scooty back. "When my son refused to pay, the police officials increased the amount to Rs 1,000. Even the guard of our neighbour had told them not to take the scooty away but they still took it," said Surender.

The family members alleged that the police officers later threatened his son saying they would file a false narcotics case against him. They snatched his mobile phone and thrashed him. When his son did not return, the elder son went to the police station, who too was injured as cops poked a sharp object in his toes. Later, Surender and his wife also went to the police station to check on their sons.

The family of four, including Surender's wife, who is well known real estate dealers in the area, were thrashed by around 7-8 cops.

Later, after the intervention of senior officers, they were let off. They were later asked to sort out the matter, however, he refused.

Six officers, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector and five constables, were taken off duty and sent to district lines in the case. An enquiry has been initiated as well, police said.
