The Delhi wing of Bharatiya Janata Party's attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) remained relentless on Thursday, too, with senior leaders seeking absentee chief minister to come out of his hiding place. Adding to water and power woes, the party trained its guns on Arvind Kejriwal over rising pollution levels.
The party claimed that the AAP government was sitting on the Rs 1,000 crore it collected as environment tax when Delhi was engulfed in thick smog cover in winter last year. The BJP demanded why the amount was not utilised till now. "The Kejriwal government has done nothing to tackle the pollution. It is their habit to blame others for their own incompetence," Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said.
"The CM and his Cabinet are busy with their drama and cheap politics when the city is facing another dreaded crisis of pollution," he further said.
During the day, the BJP also tweeted a picture of CM office wherein posters were pasted on closed doors. The posters mentioned about the absentee CM, claiming Kejriwal had not come to the office in the past few months. "Kejriwal has not attended the office since a long time while all officers are working as per daily routine. He needs bureaucrats as a scapegoat of his failures, (sic)" the party tweeted.
Since Monday, the BJP has reacted sharply to the sit-in by Kejriwal, and his ministers, demanding complete statehood of Delhi. The AAP has laid siege of LG house since Monday, with health minister Satyendar Jain starting indefinite fast on Tuesday.
