The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested five persons, including a sharp shooter of the Kapil-Jyoti Sangwan gang, for their suspected involvement in the murder of gangster Manjeet Mahal's father, which took place in January this year. Reportedly, the accused had planned to eliminate Manjeet as well during the last rites for his father but could not succeed due to heavy police presence.
"Krishan alias Ankush alias Bhalu, 28, carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. The other accused have been identified as Anil Sharma alias Podi, 22, Deepak Maan, 22, Pankaj Dagar alias Seera, 37, and Deepak Sharma alias Tarun, 21," DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav said. He added that Deepak Maan, Krishan, and Anil were allegedly involved in the murder of Mahal's father Kishan.
When they were intercepted while going towards the Mitraon village, the accused fired five rounds at the police personnel. Seven semi-automatic weapons, including a mini carbine gun, 75 live cartridges, and five fired shells were recovered from their possession. The accused told the police that the Mahal gang had started taking revenge for the murder and had killed two members of their gang. They were on their way to target members of Mahal's family when they were nabbed. The murder was the fallout of the rivalry between the gangs of Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu and Manjeet Mahal, who are both lodged in jails.?
In December 2015, Sunil alias Doctor Kapil's brother-in-law, was murdered in Chhawla by Mahal gang members. In retaliation, Kapil gang killed family members of Manjeet Mahal's associates. Kapil was desperate to avenge his brother-in-law's killing and had regularly maintained pressure on his gang members to kill Mahal's father. Accused also had plans to kill Mahal.
