Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly have known each other for years now. Their journey began together as budding cricketers that turned into one of the greatest partnerships in the One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Even now, when these have retired from cricket, their bond continues to strengthen.

Speaking on Breakfast with Champions, Ganguly revealed several details about his bond with Tendulkar, the later’s hilarious habits and his character as a upcoming cricketer during the initial days.

Recollecting when he saw Tendulkar for the first time, Ganguly said, “I saw Tendulkar for the first time, with such long hair, he was from Bombay and quite famous back then. He can't be taken off from the nets. He used to bat always. Vasu sir used to pull him off nets, saying 'camp is for others too'. I knew he had something different from that time.”

Tendulkar and Ganguly have known each other since the two were 14 years old and which is why Ganguly said he knows the great man inside out. “What he wants to do at the crease, where he wants to play, who he is angry with,” Ganguly added.

One of the hilarious memories that he has had with Tendulkar was the latter’s habit of sleep walking.

“We were roommates in England. So, one day I saw he was walking in the room. I said to myself, he must gone to the bathroom and I slept facing the other side. I didn't ask him anything the next day. Second day, I again saw him walking in the room. So I woke up and sat thinking, what does he do at 1.30 in the night. He takes a round in the room and then sits on the chair, returns and then sleeps next to me.

So next day I told him, 'you're scaring me, what do you do at night?' He said 'No, I walk while sleeping'...He had this habit of sleepwalking," Ganguly revealed.

Whenever Tendulkar failed, he went on search for new bats and most of the times he ended up using Ganguly’s heavy bats, even in the 1992 World Cup.

“I started using a heavy bat and he was also using a heavy bat. He used to like the feel of my bat. In 1992, I was dropped from the team, I was not not selected for the World Cup. So while going home, the other players said 'It's alright, you go home, don't worry...the next tour is there'. But he said 'can I take your bat?' I said I have been dropped, you took my bat, what more you guys are going to do'. So, I gave him my bat," Ganguly said.

The former skipper said that he could just go on and on with his memories with Tendulkar.

"Whenever he failed to score he used to search for bats. My heavy bats used to be there, he took them and played. He was my roommate in Sydney and I was not playing. He failed to score in the first two Test matches in 1991-92. So he woke up at two in the night and was practising. He then scored a century in Sydney. I've seen a lot of good times with him," Ganguly said.
