MS Dhoni to debut as 'Captain 7' in production company's first animated series

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is set to launch his production company Dhoni Entertainment's next project, which will be India's first animated spy universe. The first one in the series will be based on the star himself - Captain 7.

Currently, in pre-production, Dhoni will be seen in a never-before-seen avatar, which will be released sometime next year, in 2022. Dhoni shared his excitement about the exciting new opportunity in a statement where he said, "The concept and story is great. It will bring to life my other passions along with cricket.”

Sakshi Singh Rawat, Dhoni's wife and the managing director of Dhoni Entertainment was excited to share the new animated series with the audience very soon and also spoke about co-producing it between Black White Orange Brands. “When BWO came to us with the concept of an animation fiction show based on Mahi, we were on board. A whole lot of adventure awaits you with ‘Captain 7," said Sakshi.

Announcing the project, Dhoni entertainment took to its social media and wrote, "Captain 7' - the beginning of India’s first animated spy universe based on MS Dhoni’s attributes, from the house of Dhoni Entertainment and Black White Orange.. We can already feel the action!"

Dhoni and Sakshi delved into film production with the Hotstar documentary, 'Roar of the Lion' in 2019 directed by Kabir Khan, which encapsulated the journey of Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings' comeback in the year 2018 after a two-year ban and winning the title for the third time. The company announced their next project, a sci-fi thriller series, which will be an adaptation of a yet unpublished book.
