The Australian team may not be a leading nation in the T20 format, but like the past years, Aussie players are getting massive traction in the IPL bidding table. A part of it is obviously influenced by the fact that many of the coaches are Australians, but it is primarily due to their rich pedigree.

And like other editions, this year too Aussie players got massive paycheck. And KKR took the lead in snapping up two top Aussie players.Chris Lynn who had a great BBL and started in a promising note in KKR last year before getting injured. Lynn was again bought in the action for Rs 9.6 crores after seeing off challenges from DD and RCB.

They also got Mitch Starc, but after a fierce bidding war. Starc is a handy bowler, especially in depth and had decent success in India in the past.

KXIP also did a bid for him, but finally KKR prevailed and managed to get Starc for Rs 9.4 crores.  The other big buy among the 16 marquee players was Glenn Maxwell, who was back in the Delhi Daredevils fold after five years for a record Rs 9.40 crore after intense bidding.

Marcus Stoinic was bought by KXIP for Rs 6.2 crores. He excelled in BBL, and clearly helped in getting him a great purse. Stoinic hasn't exactly done too much in India so far. But KXIP will be hoping he can come good in IPL 11. Destructive Aussie opener Finch was also snapped up by KXIP for Rs 6.2 crore.

Shane Watson was bought by CSK for a decent price of Rs 4 crore.  Another Aussie fast bowler, Pat Cummins was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 5.4 crores.

Steven Smith was already retained by RR for a massive Rs 12.5 crores. David Warner too was already retained by SRH for Rs 12.5 crore.

Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Johnson, James Faulkner though weren't that lucky like their Aussie counterparts. They were not picked in the auction. While Johnson is ageing, and Faulkner hasn't been in good form, Hazlewood not getting a bid was certainly surprising.
