KFC to sell 'Vegetarian Fried Chicken' soon

Besides the vegetarian dish, KFC will provide other vegetarian options as well.

Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurent chain, popularly known as KFC would soon sell the 'vegetarian chicken' in its outlets. According to a New York Times report, Louisville based KFC is planning to te chicken-like “vegetarian options” in Britain. This would be the first of its kind innivative step. According to the publication, KFC will cook the dish with its signature blend of herbs and spices to make it taste like 'chicken-like'. 

Besides the vegetarian dish, KFC will provide other vegetarian options as well. 

A KFC spokesperson was quoted as saying by NYT that the development of the recipe is at a very early stage, and options being explored in their kitchen right now are a top secret. The spokersperson further added that once it would finalize the recipe, KFC would make it available to the customers this year itself. 

It might launch an entirely new vegetarian option in 2019, the spokesperson said. 

KFC’s vegetarian decision reportedly came in wake of the British government stressing to cut consumption of excess calories in the country. According to the report, KFC UK hopes to cut its calories per serving by 20 percent in the next seven years. 

Earlier this year, Mcdonald's India has shared its revamped healthier menu with low carb McAloo Tikki and fat free soft serve ice cream among other 'healthy' options. 

"Our iconic product McAloo Tikki is now a balanced meal with the right proportion of carbohydrate, protein and fats", McDonald's tweeted. 

McDonald's has also announced that it had replaced refined flour with whole grain. 

Whole grain wraps are available across all Mcdonald's restaurants in India. 

McDonald's one of most popular items, its French Fries, which on several occassions had been accused of not healthy enough would also be changed. 

The US based restaurent chain claimed that now McDonald's fries would contain 20 per cent less sodium.
