Bullion: Gold prices continued to rule firm for the

In the global market, gold had traded above USD 1,300 Friday for the first time in 2017, getting a lift from haven demand on the back of earlier weakness in global equities, a terrorist attack in Barcelona and concerns about President Donald Trump s pro-business agenda.

December gold ended at USD 1,291.60 an ounce as aginast the last weekend's level of USD 1,294.00. It had touched a high of USD 1,306.90 an ounce Friday, a level not seen since early November, according to FactSet data. The pullback in the yellow metal fueled a 0.2 pct weekly loss.

Meanwhile, September silver ended at USD 17 an ounce as against the last weekend's level of USD 17.07, showing a loss of weekly loss of 0.4 per cent.

On the domestic front, standard gold (99.5 purity) resumed lower at Rs 28,975 per 10 grams from last Friday's closing level of Rs 29,060 and dropped further to Rs 28,655 before ending at 29,135, still showing a gain of Rs 75 or 0.26 per cent.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also commenced lower at Rs 29,125 per 10 grams compared to preceding weekend level of Rs 29,210 and dropped further to Rs 28,805 before ending the week at 29,285, showing a smilar gain of Rs 75 or 0.26 per cent.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) opened negative at Rs 39,070 per kilogram from last Friday's closing level of Rs 39,110 and moved down further to Rs 38,255 before finishing at 39,300, disclosing a gain of Rs 190 or 0.49 per cent.(MORE)
