Karan Johar's latest production 'Student Of The Year 2' starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria finally hit the screens on May 10, Friday amidst the 'Avengers: Endgame' mania.

As per a Box Office India report, the Punit Malhotra directorial witnessed an average occupancy of 20-25% in the morning shows, which is quite good for a film starring two debutantes. The film got a massive opening across 3100 screens in India.

The report further stated, "The opening in the multiplexes is pretty much in the range of a 'Total Dhamaal' but the collections in Central India and Gujarat are well short of 'Total Dhamaal'. The film is not in the zone of a 'Baaghi 2' (Tiger Shroff's last release) and even though it might have action in it, the film is more of a college musical romance which limits that mass audience. Tiger Shroff has a huge following in CP, Nizam, Maharashtra and East India which could be second to Salman Khan only but this film probably holds less appeal for them which could be reflected in the figures. Despite a big IPL match today, 'SOTY 2' is expected to pick up by the evening. As per trade analyst Girish Johar, the film wouldn't face any competition from 'Avengers: Endgame' either since it has already enjoyed its dream run for two weeks. '

Avengers Endgame is done by now. It has already clocked huge numbers and has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark. I am not saying it will go away completely. It will have its market share but the audience is geared up for SOTY 2,” Johar earlier told Indian Express.

Predicting the day one collection of SOTY 2 - which is made on an estimated budget of Rs 80 crore - he added, “I peg it somewhere around Rs 12-13 crore. If the film is good, it can go up to Rs 15 crore and if the reviews and audience reaction is average, then it might get restricted to Rs 10 crore. If it is well made, it is poised to have a good run at the box office."
