From Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone, several leading ladies in Bollywood have spoken against the pay disparity that exists in Bollywood. The issue came back into limelight recently when Padmaavat actress Deepika Padukone took home a larger pay cheque for than her male co-stars, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

Now when Rani Mukerji, who is currently promoting her comeback film Yash Raj Films’ Hichki, was asked about the same, she said that money did not matter much to her. "That's not what drove me to work. I worked to be happy. My parents took care of my finances," she told Mid-Day.

Meanwhile, Rani also took a dig at some of those actors who have been vocal about unequal pay. "Nowadays, a lot of people who don't know how to act are also talking of pay parity. It's important to hone your skills and become good at what you do, money will follow," she said. "Actors make money from endorsements or cutting ribbons. Money can come from anywhere," the actress added.

On the work front, Rani plays the role of a teacher suffering from Tourette Syndrome in upcoming film Hichki, which will hit the theatres on March 23.
