After the video of Anushka Sharma taking a passerby to task when he allegedly threw garbage on the road was made viral by her husband Indian cricket skipper Virat Kohli, a national debate began. While Arhhan Singh, the man in the video and his mother lashed out at the actress, a lot of people, including director Karan Johar have supported her.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju is Team Virushka in this matter.

Rubbishing the claims about publicity stunts made by Arhhan Singh's mother, Rijiju tweeted, "C'mon, Virat & Anushka need publicity!! They would rather crave for privacy!! Our conduct reflects our mentality. Civic sense is social ethics and ethical behaviour doesn't come with wealth & education. Let's keep India clean. #SwachhBharat"

In the 17-second-long clip, the actor can be seen scolding the man in a chauffeur-driven dark sedan for littering the streets. The video, however, did not capture the man in the act.

"Why are you throwing garbage on the road, you cannot just throw plastic on the streets just like that," Anushka Sharma can be heard as saying in the video shared by Virat Kohli on Twitter She then asks the man to use a dustbin instead of throwing garbage on the streets.

Kohli captioned the clip as: "Saw these people throwing garbage on the road & pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same & spread awareness. @AnushkaSharma."

He further called out people for turning everything on social media into a meme.

"Lot of people who don't have the courage to do something like this find it funny. Everything for people nowadays is meme content. Shame," he wrote in another tweet.

Sharma is yet to publicly respond to the incident.
