After six decades of singing in 20 Indian languages and foreign language too, Asha Bhosle continues to be loved for melodious voice. Her versatility has surprised music lovers time and again, as she can add spunk to an item song, a seductive track and even a ghazal with the same gusto. Her unique style of singing dominated the 60s and 70s, but her song still being remixed proving that Asha Bhosle is the quintessential queen of melody!

As Asha tai turns 84 today, we bring you seven songs from Asha Bhosle's career which are apt for different moods and a must in every playlist.

1.Mere Sanam (1965) Asha Bhosle was the voice behind Mumtaz's song, 'Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon ka andhera'. Composed by OP Nayyar and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri, Asha's voice added sweet seduction to the song which appeals to the ears even so after so many years.

Hare Krishna Hare Rama (1971) RD Burman and Asha Bhosle's companionship in music gave us many memorable hits. While Pancham experimented with new tunes, Asha tai's voice complimented his compositions each time. 'Dum Maaro Dum' tops the playlists at parties even today as a much forgettable remix featuring Deepika Padukone proved that old is gold!

Caravan (1971) Asha Bhosle was the first choice to sing a caberet back then. She has given voice to many item songs featuring Bindu and Helen. But 'Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja' from 1971's Caravan still remains on our lips. Once again it's a gem from RD Burman and Asha Bhosle's team.

Yaadon Ki Baraat(1973) Again, an RD Burman composition 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne Dil Ko' is an evergreen romantic number. Lovers from across the generation has enjoyed Puncham's quirky composition with glasses clinking and Asha's melodious voice for Zeenat Aman.

Ijaazat (1987) : Talk about romantic songs sungs by Asha Bhosle and you just can't skip 'Mera kuch samaan'. Unlike any other romantic song, this Gulzar lyrics didn't rhyme like any other Bollywood song does and is not easy to sing along. But Asha Bhonsle proved her versatility once again and even defines this number as her autobiographical song.

Umrao Jaan (1981) Many were surprised by Khayam's choice of singer for 1981 film, Umrao Jaan. For 34 years in the industry, no one imagined that Asha Bhonsle could sing ghazals. But she did and how! Once again proving her versatility, all her songs were a bit hit. "In aankhon ki masti ke mastaane hazaaron hai" "Justju jis ki thhi usko toh na paaya hum ne" and even "Yeh kyaa jageh hai doston yeh kaunsa dayaar hai".

Rangeela(1995) In her 60s Asha Bhonsle sang for Urmila Matondkar who was in her 20s. AR Rahman composed the sexy number and Asha Bhosle's vivacious voice matched the visuals of uber hot Urmila on screen.
