Sanjay Dutt, Chitrangda Singh and Mahie Gill starrer Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 released and tanked at the box office in just a week post its release and the aftermath of the movie's fate has been largely attributed to the movie's erratic editing. A number of critics have given their two cents on the shoddy job done at the edit table, which resulted in the uneven editing of the film and now, looks like we all know the reason why. If recent reports are to be believed, then apparently, the film as edited in a way to please Mahie Gill, which resulted in major chunks of Chitrangda's portions being chopped off from the final version.
Why do we say so? Well, a report on BollywoodHungama quoted a source close to the film as saying, "We don’t know what actually the chakkar is. But, the director (Tigmanshu Dhulia) seemed absolutely taken up with Mahie Gill’s character in the film. It wouldn’t be wrong to say he focused on her at the cost of all others, especially Chitrangda Singh who was the other leading lady opposite Sanjay Dutt.”
The report further informs that chitrangda's role in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 was brutally chopped in the editing process. Apparently, Chitrangda wasn't shown the final cut of the film until the last minute. "When she finally saw it with the cast and crew, she was in tears. She couldn’t believe what was done to her role. Her introductory sequence was knocked off. Her death scene in the climax was cut. Her Mujra was reduced to half its original length. Chitrangda Singh shot for nearly 30 days for Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3. When she saw what remained of her role, she broke down and wept,” the source further told the portal.
Well, if this turns out to be true then it's a pretty unfortunate thing to have happened to Chitrangda, who has been away from the showbiz for about three years. The previous movie with which she had to make a comeback, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, also ended up in a fiasco when she had to walk out of the project. Reportedly, the actress was planning to make a strong comeback with Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, in which she plays Sanjay Dutt's love-interest.
