Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa categorically declared on Tuesday that “we have not violated any rule. We have not handed even one inch of extra land to the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE)”, the promoter of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project.

“After the BJP government came to power, we have issued notification for handing over only three acres of land and that too for making up for missing links. In fact, we handed over 251 acres of land to the project promoter,  248 acres of which were notified by the previous governments. We are acting only as per the framework agreement (FWA) with NICE and Supreme Court orders. We have not violated any rule,” he said, releasing to the media a fact-sheet on the BMIC project.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “I have said everything before you, there is no need to bring out a white paper on the issue.”

He also accused former prime minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda of instigating farmers to create a law and order problem in the state.

Yeddyurappa also shot back a series of questions at Deve Gowda:  “What is your real intention? Do you want to vitiate the law and order situation in the state? You are creating confusion and hampering development. Why are you losing your mental balance? Please outline the reasons for your attack on my government?”

He further added, “I have not heard in post-independence era a former prime minister calling a chief minister a bloody bastard and using other invectives. People of Karnataka are known for decent, dignified and courteous behaviour.”

The chief minister said the government has put all the facts relating to NICE before the apex court which would take a decision.

He added that henceforth he would not utter a single word on “Gowda and sons”.

Yeddyurappa also appealed to the people, particularly his partymen, to call off their agitation against the JD(S) chief for his unsavoury remarks against him.
