After the alleged gang-rape of a law school student a few days ago, another incident of alleged gang-rape has been reported in the city.

On late Thursday night, three bar girls are allegedly said to have been gang-raped by a gang numbering more than 10 people, who barged into their house near Kengeri.

Police said the incident happened in Jnanajyothi Nagar, near Mariyappana Palya. Deputy superintendent of police (Ramanagaram sub-division) Ramalingappa said eight girls, all hailing from various cities of north India, including Punjab, Delhi and Maharashtra, were staying in a rented house for the past two months. All of them worked in a bar in the Majestic area. The girls stayed on the ground-floor, while two security personnel stayed on the first floor of the building.
On Thursday, a gang of more than 10 people came to their house after the girls returned home after work around 12 midnight. On opening the door, the gang, armed with lethal weapons, barged into the house. The two security guards rushed to rescue the girls but the gang locked them up.

Police said the gang first asked for valuables. They took five gold rings, one gold chain, five cellphones, one LCD TV and `15,000 in cash. Then they allegedly sexually assaulted some of the girls. The gang allegedly bundled three girls into their Maruti Omni van and drove off.

“The girls claim that they were taken to a house where they were allegedly raped. We sent them to Rajarajeshwari Medical College Hospital on Mysore Road for a medical test and have registered a case of dacoity, kidnap and rape based on the complaint lodged by one of the security personnel Purushotham,” DySP Ramalingappa told DNA. The medical examination report is awaited.

Police said the incident happened between 1.30 am and 3.30 am. The gang, police said, dropped the girls near their house around 3.30 am and fled the scene. Bidadi police rushed to the scene after being informed about the incident by the security personnel.
Anupam Agarwal, superintendent of police (Ramanagaram district), said police teams had been formed to nab the gang.
