The high court on Monday directed the state government to produce former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu’s medical records. Naidu faces charges in the multi-crore Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board scam.

After the Lok Ayukta special court on October 17 rejected his bail application, Naidu now wants to fly to London to receive treatment for lymphoma (cancer). He has filed for regular bail in the high court. However, the Lok Ayukta court has granted him permission to seek treatment in the country.

Naidu had filed for regular bail in the high court on medical grounds and contended that he is suffering from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and wants to undergo treatment at Royal Free Hampstead Hospital in London. He said he had been treated there earlier. Naidu also said his stem cells have been stored at the hospital. His health would not deteriorate if he receives treatment there, he has contended.

Justice BV Pinto heard the case and adjourned it to October 28. He directed the government to file objections and produce Naidu’s medical records and his current health status.

Naidu has also contended that there is a communication from the London-based hospital that there is an immediate need for him to head to London for treatment. Apart from cancer, he also has cervical spondylosis.
