Government grants not enough for betterment of Bangalore: CM Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the BBMP has realised that the government grants are not enough to bring betterment of the city.

In a BBMP's Namma Bangalore, Nanna koduge (our Bangalore, my contribution) inaugurated function at Freedom Park on Saturday, he said, "Every one can't contribute financially to the society; at least they can segregate waste at home that will be their contribution to the society as well as in keeping Bangalore clean".

He also urged "Every individual to join their hands in the segregation of waste before disposing in order to maintain cleanliness in the city. Every individual should question themselves on what his contribution to the city he said.

"A total number of 291organisation and individuals have signed up for the initiative; among these 189 have already signed MoUs.
CM also welcomed the public-private partnership in improvement of public properties including schools, lakes, parks, toilets and hospitals. If this BBMP step succeeds, our burden will be reduced.

Union Minister for chemicals and Fertilisers HN Ananth Kumar said, 'The centre is ready to join hands with BBMP in processing wet waste. We are ready to provide fund to set up 19 waste compost units with a capacity of 50 tonnes in a city. Let the BBMP and state government to submit their plan, we shall approve it."

He also said that, the centre is planning to set up pharmacies at public places, bus stands, railway station and hospitals where medicines will be available at cheaper rates, he added.
Railway minister D V Sadananda Gowda said, he and his department will wholeheartedly contribute to the city by keeping the trains and railway stations clean. Bangalore needed this kind of programme long back ago itself, but still it will help BBMP to bring bangalore forward.

Bangalore city incharge minister Ramalinga Reddy, BBMP Mayor B.S. Satyanarayana, BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana were also present in the function.
