A youth, who wanted to be a reel life hero, played the villain in real life after he fatally stabbed a student for loving a girl his close friend wanted to marry.

Rakesh alias Planet, son of a Kannada film producer living in Vyalikaval, was detained by Vyalikaval police for murdering B Ajay, a BCom student from Electronic City on Tuesday night, and later injuring his friend Naveen who went to Rakesh’s house to avenge the killing.

While Naveen is being treated for stab wounds in a hospital, the Malleshwaram police have detained three of Rakesh’s associates for attacking Ajay. According to the police, Ajay’s troubles began when he fell in love with a girl living in Malleshwaram 17th cross. She too was head over heels in love with him after breaking her relationship with a man, Vinay. After the break-up, Vinay used to harass her and she complained against him to Ajay a number of times.

Fatal flare-up
On Tuesday evening, Vinay went to the girl’s house and threatened her with dire consequences if she did not end her relationship with Ajay. She immediately alerted Ajay, who came to her house with three friends and confronted Vinay. Although Vinay left soon, Ajay and his friends remained there.

Meanwhile, Vinay met his close friend Rakesh and told him what happened. Rakesh, armed with a knife, went to 17th cross around 7 pm with his friends to confront Ajay. A quarrel ensued between the two groups. Suddenly, Rakesh pulled out his knife and stabbed Ajay in the chest.

Horrified, Ajay’s friends took to their heels. Rakesh and friends too fled. Left alone, Ajay, got on his motorcycle and started riding. But he could not go far. He became weak as blood continued to flow from the wound. Suddenly, everything went dark and he fell unconscious from the bike at 13th cross, Malleshwaram.

A passer-by, who thought the youth had met with an accident, took him to Fortis Hospital where he died around 9.45pm. Doctors, who treated Ajay, said he died of stab injuries. They informed the Malleshwaram police who shifted the body to Victoria Hospital.

After postmortem, the body was handed over to Ajay’s family on Wednesday. The police have registered a case of murder based on a complaint filed by Ajay’s father Balakrishna who is working with BHEL. Ajay and his family stayed in Malleshwaram and had moved to Electronic City only about a year ago.

Victim’s friend too stabbed
The drama did not end with the death of Ajay. His friends wanted to strike back. A group led by his close friend Naveen went to Rakesh’s house in Vyalikaval around 9 pm and knocked on his door. Rakesh anticipated trouble and he was well prepared.
Holding the same knife with which he killed Ajay, Rajesh came out of the house and stabbed Naveen. Too afraid to confront Rakesh, Naveen’s friends ran away.

On being informed of the attack, the Vyalikaval police arrived and took Naveen to a nearby hospital and later to Victoria Hospital for treatment. Quoting doctors, they said he was out of danger. They registered a case of attempt to murder against Rakesh and detained him.

‘Hero’ who played the villain
According to police, Rakesh, son of a Kannada film producer, wanted to become a film hero. To make his dream come true, he was studying film acting in a city-based institute. But, in real life, he turned into a villain by committing a murder. The Malleshwaram and Vyalikaval police have registered cases against him.
