Maruti Suzuki will come up with one more training centre in Gujarat in a year, a top company official said on Wednesday during the certificate ceremony of the first batch of Maruti Suzuki Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM) at Ganpat University in Mehsana.

"We will come up with yet another training centre in Gujarat in one year," said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki Indian Limited (MSIL). The location has not been finalised yet and the company is looking for a suitable partner. So far, 254 students have received the certificates in Japanese Manufacturing Practices and Processes at the Maruti Suzuki supported institute.

Besides core technical skills, students are groomed in Japanese manufacturing practices and processes critical to the automobile industry. Values of discipline, punctuality, and Kaizen will complement their technical skills and distinguish them from the rest.

"We believe that JIM at Mehsana is set to serve as a model for ITI education in the country. JIM will contribute to skilled India and help youth find gainful employment," said Ayukawa.
