The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seems to be on a roll. The agency on Friday arrested three police persons, including an inspector, in two separate cases.

In the first case, PI PS Gadhvi of Kadi police station in Mehsana, was arrested after Parag Patel, a Gram Rakshak Dal jawan, was caught taking bribe of Rs25,000 on his behalf. The jawan was trapped right outside the police station. The complainant had approached ACB after PI Gadhvi allegedly demanded the bribe for not beating his brother, who is an accused in a prohibition case, and for not seeking his police remand.

In another case, an assistant sub-inspector of Vav police station was booked for accepting bribe.

The complainant's sister-in-law had made an application with police for registering a case against him, and ASI Chhotu Moosla had demanded Rs12,000 as bribe for not registering the case.

He had already taken Rs1,000 from the complainant. Mahadev Rajput, whom the ASI had sent for collecting the remaining Rs11,000, was caught by ACB sleuths.

In a related development, the agency said the Supreme Court has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Paru Tiwari, an enforcement officer with PF office in Vadodara, who is absconding since mid-October after consultant Hasmukh Trivedi was caught accepting bribe of Rs1 lakh on her behalf. Tiwari had demanded the bribe from the owner of an IT company for not registering a case against him in a case of pending PF contribution. However, he had approached ACB and registered a complaint.

The ACB has registered several graft cases in the past few days. Earlier this week, Dy SP VK Nayi of Viramgam division was arrested in a bribery case.

On Thursday, an assistant geologist was also arrested.
