Gujarat government proposed the commission of non-reserved communities on Tuesday to Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel and his colleages during a truce talk held in Gandhinagar. The government, Hardik Patel and his colleagues from PAAS, the Sardar Patel Group (SPG), and leaders from religious and social institutions of Patel community sit down together to settle the issue. However, Hardik and his colleagues were not fully convinced with the proposition and but agreed to soften their stand against government on the Patidar reservation issue.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Cabinet minister Chiman Sapariya and minister of State for Education Nanu Vanani represented the government, while over 120 leaders representing religious and social institutions of the Patel community took part in the discussion that included agitation group members of PAAS and SPG leader Lalji Patel.

The meeting lasted for three hours. "As per the resolution formula," Nitin Patel said, "the state government will propose formation of commission for non-reserved communities and a probe commission to investigate police atrocity cases against members of the Patel community during the agitation period. Moreover, all the criminal cases against Patel will be withdrawn."

The leaders of Patel community will help the victims of agitation get the higher compensation and jobs."

Even as Nitin Patel was making this announcement, volunteers of PAAS including their leader Dinesh Bambhaniya, started hooting and sloganeering, "BJP Haay Haay," and police had to escort them out of the hall. Hardik Patel termed this meeting as inconclusive. "The meeting concluded in peaceful atmosphere but it did not bear any result," said Hardik Patel. "Our demand of reservation has been subsided by government. We are however hopeful that government has accepted our other long-pending demands. Though these seem like poll promises, we expect more from government."

The Gujarat government will propose formation of two commissions in a cabinet meeting to be held on Wednesday and the proposition will be cleared today too.
