Chief minister Narendra Modi’s brain child ‘Run for Unity’ seems to have received a lukewarm response in his own backyard. As per the information available on the website, only 1,98,749 people have registered for the event till 9 pm on December 7 with the highest — 18,032 participants — being registered in Junagadh district.  Ahmedabad and Dahod districts have 15,963 and 861 participants, respectively.

Modi will flag off the event in Vadodara on December 15 and interestingly, only 2,854 people have registered themselves from Vadodara district.

However, officials claim that the figures shown on the website were much less compared to original numbers. “In Ahmedabad city more than 46,000 participants have registered themselves for the event, but the website showed only around 16,000,” said DP Desai, deputy municipal commissioner Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

He added that on Monday, the civic body has convened a meeting of nodal officers — appointed for creating awareness about the event — so that exact number of registration can be known.

However, officials claim that the figures shown on the website were much less compared to original numbers.
