In a pathbreaking decision to ensure a hassle-free travel, the MEA has decided to remove the last page of the passport that contains personal information of the applicant. Realising that details such as address, parents name, spouse details are not checked and are irrelevant during travel, the ministry has taken this decision and the changes are underway to modify the software.

“The last page is never checked anywhere, but the personal identity of a traveller is important. Names of the mother or the father or the spouse is not required. The decision has been taken after the government mulled over it for sometime. We may take all details for our records but will not print on the passport,” Neelam Rani, Regional Passport Officer said.
