Based on the IP address of a computer, Kheda police have arrested one Shivam Vyas, an engineering student on Sunday for shooting off a terror threat email to the media on Saturday. Investigation revealed that Vyas, 23, is a student of 4th semester of Bachelor of Engineering (BE-IT) at Dharamsinh Desai University in Nadiad.

On Saturday, a local news channel received an email, which claimed responsibility for the recent bomb blasts in Hyderabad, and the German bakery blast in Pune. It also threatened more blasts in Gujarat in the coming days. To stop these blasts, it asked the government to pay Rs50 crore to four of the gang members, mobile numbers of whom were listed at the end of his email. Upon learning about the threat mail, Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) swung into action and soon sniffed their way to the IP address of the computer, of a cyber café in Vaniyawad. Vyas used a computer here to send the mail. Kheda police arrested Vyas from his residence in Yashshwi apartment in Nadiad on Sunday, but soon realized that he was no terrorist, but a lovelorn man who wanted to avenge his jilted love.

In his confession, Vyas claimed that he wanted to teach a lesson to a girl studying with him in the college, who he claims was a good friend during the initial days, but later asked him to maintain distance when he expressed his feelings to her. Vyas gave mobile numbers of the girl, her brother and another relative of hers in the email.
