CM Vijay Rupani unveils projects worth Rs 1.66 lakh crore

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, on Thursday, showcased 1,737 projects involving an investment of Rs 1.66 lakh crore for which Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during recent Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019. These include 248 projects whose foundation stone were laid, 459 projects commissioned and 1030 projects that are under implementation. The showcasing, within 45 days of completion of the summit, is a fitting reply to those who criticize that the government makes tall claims but has a poor track record in implementation, said Rupani.

"We walk the talk. We have the will power for that. Those who do not have the guts to dream, cannot fulfil them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inspired the nation to challenge your limits and scale new heights. Today's showcasing is a reflection that Gujarat ranks high in Ease of Doing Business," said Rupani at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Financial assistance of Rs 400 crore textile sector and Rs 384 crore to the MSMEs.

Chief Secretary J N Singh said that the CM had thrown a challenge to the officials to implement the MoUs signed during VGS-2019. "Officials from all the departments burnt the midnight oil to ensure that a maximum number of projects see the light of the day in the minimum time period," said Singh.

One major announcement included setting up of Technology Hub, of companies in Information Technology (IT) sector at GIFT City, that will bring all major IT companies at a single location so that they can better showcase their abilities. It will create 12 lakh square feet space of which six lakh square feet will come up in two years. Recently the government accorded the status of the industry to IT and ITeS (IT-enabled Services).

"Setting up Gujarat's first tech park in GIFT City will create a dynamic ecosystem for the industry and help Gujarat emerge as the next IT hub of India. It will also help in creating new employment opportunities in future skills including Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The hub will enable local IT companies to get visibility across the world," said Jaimin Shah, chairman, Domestic Council of NASSCOM.
