BJP president Amit Shah, on Monday, came down heavily on Congress President Rahul Gandhi for "lying" about a Supreme Court order on the Rafale jet deal.

"The Supreme Court heard the case on a preliminary technical objection. The Court passed its judgement, and Rahul baba started saying that Supreme Court had rebuked the government on Rafale issue. In reality, no such thing happened," Shah said addressing a public meeting at Kodinar town of Gir Somnath district.

The Congress president had claimed on April 10 that the Supreme Court had made it clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had committed a theft. The SC, which had cleared the government of accusations of corruption over the deal, had a day earlier said that it would hear a review petition on the basis of new documents.

"The case is still underway and has already been heard in the past. But, the Congress president continued to accuse. A BJP MP moved a contempt notice. And today, the SC has issued a notice and asked him to explain his claims," Shah told the gathering.

The BJP chief, who is contesting from Gandhinagar Lok Sabha, asked Rahul Gandhi to clear his stand on former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah's comment to have two prime ministers.

Shah also hit out at Congress for blaming its defeats on electronic voting machines.

"The Congress blames EVMs for its defeats. Only the first phase of elections is over, but the party is already saying that the BJP will win due to faulty EVMs. This shows that the Congress party has accepted defeat," he said.

He pointed out that the Congress had not said anything about EVMs after its win in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

The BJP president also attacked Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan for his remarks against actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada, who is a BJP's candidate for a Lok Sabha seat.

"The disgusting comment made by Azam Khan on BJP candidate Jaya Prada is an insult to mothers. The comment is not on her but on crores of women. I would like to ask the Samajwadi Party, Behen Mayawati ji, and Rahul Gandhi whether they agree to this comment," Shah said.

Later, addressing a gathering at Deesa in Banaskantha district, the BJP president said that the country had decided to make Narendra Modi the prime minister again.

"This is because of the work done by the government in the last five years. The opposition has come together, but they don't know who our prime ministerial candidate is," he said.

Shah lashed out at the Congress president over his promise to eradicate poverty. He doubted Rahul's capability to remove poverty when four generations of the Nehru-Gandhi family had failed to do so. He also accused the party of being soft towards terror.
