After heavy rain on Wednesday, city received a respite on Thursday with only intermittent rain being recorded.

Ahmedabad received just 6.48mm of rainfall with the highest being recorded in the New West Zone — receiving 7.87mm of rainfall on Thursday. As per the AMC data, the city has so far received 1,005mm of rainfall against an average rainfall of 769mm.

Thanks to the rain, temperature continued to remain low.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6 degree Celsius — six degrees below normal. It should be noted that an upper air cyclonic circulation is what has brought the late-season surge in monsoon to the state. The Met department has as a result predicted rain or thundershowers for the city on Friday as well with a possibility of heavy rain.

Meanwhile in the city, the roof of a small house was damaged after a tree fell onto it on Thursday afternoon.

According to Ahmedabad Fire & Emergency Services (AFES), they had received a call around 3 pm of a tree having collapsed over the roof of small house in Khatkiwad area near the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) office.

Once there, they chopped up the collapsed tree and cleared it from the roof in a matter of 20 minutes. No one was reported hurt in the incident while the roof of the house got damaged, AFES said.
