The second round of option entry for CET engineering and medical seats went off on smoothly on the second day on Thursday.

After the first round of allotment of seats in Engineering and Medical courses, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducted the second round of option entry from Wednesday. Students who were not satisfied with seat allotments in the first round, tried their luck in the second round on Thursday.

Till 6 pm on Thursday -- the end of the second day of round II of seat allotments — 4,193 candidates for medical had registered 1,08,118 options for medical seats and 18,565 engineering seat candidates registered 4,57,659 options for engineering seats in various colleges on the seat matrix. A total of 33,465 candidates had registered for the second round of option entry for medical seats, while it was 50,852 for engineering seats.

The options are the permutations and combinations of choices made by candidates for seats in different colleges if the students are not satisfied with the allotments in the first round.

Students eligible can enter the priority of options until 10am on July 22 for being considered for allotment of seats. The second seat allotment status will be hosted on the KEA website www.kea.kar.nic.in on July 23.

Seat matrix
The KEA has added seats in particular colleges for Medical and Dental courses as per a government notification on July 16 and July 17 and interested candidates can exercise their options in the second round. The information is also available on the KEA website www.kea.kar.nic.in.

Tips to candidates
Candidates satisfied with the allotted seat and are not interested in participating in the second round need not enter any options in the second round of option entry. Their seats allotted in the first round will be confirmed.

If a candidate is willing to participate in the second round, she/he must enter fresh options. If the candidate gets a seat in the colleges opted by her/him in the second round, the seat opted by her/him in the second round will be confirmed and the seat held in the first round will automatically get cancelled.

If the candidate does not get any seat in the second round then the seat allotted to her/him in the first round will be confirmed.

All the candidates should give as many options as possible even though the seat matrix does not show any vacancy. This is because consequential vacancies may arise during allotment process and the candidates will have a chance of getting a better seat if they have entered the options.

All candidates who have been allotted afresh in the second round or those who have confirmed the seat allotted in first round shall compulsorily join the colleges after making payment and report to KEA portal for confirmation, otherwise the seat gets cancelled.

Candidates who wish to cancel their seat can do so on or before July 22 before 11 am. The amount will be refunded, after deducting the processing fees.
