69th National Film Awards list of winners: RRR, Sardar Udham, Gangubai dominate; Allu Arjun, Kriti Sanon, Alia triumph

Here's a list of the winners who took home the prestigious national honour at the 69th National Film Awards 2023.

The winner of the 69th National Film Awards was announced on August 24, Thursday at 5 pm. National Film Awards are announced annually to honour the best talent from the film industry across the country. It is considered as the most prestigious award. 

As per the Directorate of Film Festivals of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the National Film Awards "aim at encouraging the production of films of aesthetic and technical excellence and social relevance." For the 69th National Awards, movies certified in 2021 have been awarded with the honour.

Here's the list of the winners

Film director and jury member Ketan Mehta announced the awards for the Feature Films. At first, he announced Best Feature Films in each of the languages. 

Best Mishing Film - Boomba Ride

Best Assamese Film - Anur (Eyes On The Sunshine)

Best Bengali Film - Kalkokkho (House Of Time)

Best Hindi Film - Sardar Udhaam

Best Gujarati Film - Chhello Film (Last Film Show)  

Best Kannada Film - 777 Charlie 

Best Maithili Film - Samanantar (The Parallel)

Best Marathi Film- Ekda Kay Zala
 
Best Malayalam Film - Home 

Then winners of Feature Films in each of the languages specified in Schedule VIII of the constitution were announced 

Best Meitellon Film - Eikhoigi Yum (Our Home) 

Best Odia FIlm - Pratikshya (The Wait) 

Best Tamil Film - Kadaisi Vivasayi (The Last Farmer) 

Best Telugu Film - Uppena (Wave) 


Technical Awards

Best Action Direction Award (Stunt Choreography) - King Soloman for RRR

Best Choreography - Prem Rakshith for RRR

Best Special Effects - V Srinivas Mohan for RRR

Special Jury Award- Director Vishnu Varadhan for Shershaah 

Best Lyrics: Konda Polam (Telugu) by lyricist Chandrabose 

Best Music Director: Devi Sri Prasad for Pushpa The Rise (songs), MM Keeravani for RRR (background score) 

Best Make-up Artist - Preetisheel Singh D'Souza for Gangubai Kathiawadi

Best Costume Designer - Veera Kapur for Sardar Udham

Best Production Design - Dmitrii Malich and Mansi Dhruv Mehta for Sardar Udham

Best Editing- Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Gangubai Kathiawadi

Best Dialogues - Utkarshini Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia for Gangubai Kathiawadi

Best Cinematography - Avik Mukhopadhyay for Sardar Udham

Best Supporting Actress- Pallavi Joshi for The Kashmir Files

Best Supporting Actor- Pankaj Tripathi for Mimi

Best Actress- Alia Bhatt for Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kriti Sanon for Mimi

Best Actor - Allu Arjun for Pushpa The Rise

Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment - RRR 

Best Feature Film - Rocketery: The Nambi Effect

Hindi film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won the National Award for Best Feature Film while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actress prize for their roles in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi, respectively. South superstar Allu Arjun was judged the best actor for the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise. The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, also won the Nargis Dutt Award for best film on national integration. The award for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment went to the Telugu version of the multilingual film RRR. The National Awards for 2021 were announced by filmmaker Ketan Mehta who headed the 11-member jury. The awards announcement was streamed live on the PIB YouTube channel.
