A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the North Island of New Zealand Tuesday but there was no immediate report of damage or casualties, Xinhua reported.
The tremor occurred around 3.30 pm, at a depth of 150 km, the New Zealand Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences said.
It was also felt in the cities of Wellington and Napier.
