Following a series of setbacks in various parts of the world, Uber is now planning to roll out new safety programs in 2015 including, biometrics and voice verification for drivers.

The web-based taxi service started a "global review" of its safety measures in November but it is unclear what those measures will be. In a blog post titled "Our Commitment to Safety" and signed by Uber safety head Phillip Cardenas, the company said that it intends to build new safety program and intensify others. The initiatives would include, "research and development on biometrics and voice verification to build custom tools for enhanced driver screening" and making use of scientific analysis and technology to improve driver background check, reported Stuff.co.nz.

The company has faced several setbacks recently for misguiding passengers about safety of its services.
