When sexual harassment allegations against Kevin Spacey came to light in November last year, it was a big blow for House of Cards cast and crew. This is when Robin Wright who plays indomitable Claire Underwood on the show, took charge of the situation and rallied to save the show to have a final season at Netflix.

House of Cards is one of the early marquee shows for the streaming service giant. But when Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey molested him when he was a teenager, in the wake of 'Me Too' movement, Netflix cut all ties with the American Beauty star and put the production of the sixth and final season of Hosue of Cards on hold.

In a recent interview with CBS' The Talk, cast member Patricia Clarkson, who plays Jane Davis, Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade and a veteran of the DC lobbying shenanigans, revealed that Wright played a huge role in saving a lot of jobs.

"Robin led all of this charge so that people would save their livelihoods because when the show goes away, some people don’t get paid," she said on the show.

Talking about how the sixth season came about when they had to remove Spacey, Clarkson applauded the efforts of the showrunners. She said, "We have beautiful showrunners, Frank (Pugliese) and Melissa (Gibson), and they killed themselves to rethink the whole show."

"It’s only eight episodes. … I think it’s going to be a stunning, stunning new season and I’m thankful for it," she continued.

The new season had already cast Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear in brand new roles. According to the earlier reports, Lane and Kinners will play siblings on the show.

Season six has also been shortened to eight episodes from thirteen episodes. The change was easier to adapt after the sexual harassment claims, given in the Michael Dobbs book the show is based on, Frank dies.
